PPI-104Illustrated overview
A useful fit for

A specifically compatible parked pickup and a sleeping plan using the tailgate extension.

The main tradeoff

Vehicle fit and the separately pumped extension require preparation; not a household Queen rectangle.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does PPI-104 fit any truck described as short bed?

No. The manufacturer assigns it to specific full-size 5.5–5.8-foot applications. Check the vehicle year, bed style and wheel-well shape; mid-size and stepside layouts are not interchangeable.

Does the built-in pump also inflate the tailgate extension?

The reviewed package uses a separate hand pump and inflation procedure for the extension. Preparing the main mattress alone does not complete the sleeping platform or attachment steps.

Will inflation stop automatically at my chosen firmness?

The owner's instructions tell you to turn the pump off when the desired firmness is reached. That is attended operation, not a documented automatic firmness shutoff or overnight pressure manager.

The AirBedz Original PPI-104 is a vehicle-shaped mattress package for specified full-size short pickup beds, with a separately inflated tailgate extension. Choose it because that exact truck layout suits your sleeping plan. It is not a standard Queen airbed with a camping label.

The extension is a second setup task

The manufacturer-authored owner's manual lists a built-in-pump mattress, battery pack, AC charger, bag and repair kit. For PPI-104 and PPI-105 specifically, it also lists the tailgate extension and a hand pump. The extension has its own valve and attachment procedure. AirBedz PPI-104 instructions.

That separation matters when you want a quick sleeping arrangement after travelling. Inflating the main mattress does not automatically prepare the extension. You need a suitable parked position, the tailgate arrangement the product expects, and time to inflate and attach the additional section.

Match the truck before matching the sleeper

The manufacturer's application chart places PPI-104 in the full-size 5.5–5.8-foot short-bed category. It gives the main mattress as 67 by 63.5 by 12 inches and the extension as a separate 21-by-57-by-12-inch component. These are component measurements, not a single guaranteed rectangular sleeping platform in every truck. AirBedz application chart.

Check your exact vehicle, model year, bed style and installed accessories against a current fit reference. Wheel-well cutouts are part of the shape. A toolbox, liner or other obstruction can change the usable space, and a nominal bed-length label alone should not settle the decision.

Rechargeable inflation changes the power plan

The documented Original system uses a built-in pump with a removable rechargeable battery. That gives a no-household-outlet inflation route once the battery has been properly prepared. It is different from the corded DC system used by Pro3 and the separate pump in older Lite packages.

Follow the charging instructions supplied with the actual battery edition. The reviewed manual distinguishes home charging from an optional car charger and imposes different charging limits. Do not assume a nearby socket, interchangeable charger or simply leaving the battery connected overnight is an acceptable substitute for those instructions.

It is not an automatic firmness manager

The manual tells the user to stop the pump when the desired firmness is reached. A powered inflation switch does not establish automatic shutoff or overnight top-up. Someone choosing those as essentials should look for a product that explicitly documents them.

A secondary inflation valve provides a backup route with an appropriate portable pump. Verify the correct adapter and valve arrangement for your edition. That backup can be useful on a trip, but it does not remove the need to prepare the main battery and hand pump before departure.

Truck use creates operating constraints

The manual prohibits inflating or using the mattress while the vehicle is moving. It also requires a suitable clean, flat area. Bedding should not hide sharp objects or projections left in the truck bed. These are practical parts of setup, not details a capacity number can compensate for.

For home or tent use, the maker describes separate wheel-well inserts; do not assume those accessories arrive with every PPI-104 package. The extension is useful when it matches your pickup and sleeping plan. If you primarily need a rectangular indoor guest mattress, a conventional adult airbed is simpler to compare and usually avoids the vehicle-specific components.
